Learn from Chris Cavanaugh of Magellan Strategy Group, a travel and tourism marketing and strategic planning consultant, and two instructors of the JB Media Institute, a digital marketing training program.These experts can help you tell your local business’ or tourism organization’s story in a compelling way that reaches the right audience and encourages them to take action.
This one-and-a-half day event is located in one of the country’s fastest growing tourism destinations: Asheville, NC. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and fall color of the Blue Ridge Mountains while you gain up-to-date marketing strategies you can take back to your region, venue, tourist destination, or local business to implement immediately.
New for 2019, this event will feature three tracks of learning for (1) beginners, (2) experienced tourism marketing professionals, and (3) tourism industry leaders and executives. Additionally, we’ll provide content focused on local marketing, designed for businesses that have a physical location, such as retail, hospitality, or tourism attractions. Our vision is that representatives from tourism organizations (a combination of the leadership team and marketing staff) as well as CEOs and marketing professionals from key local attractions or businesses would attend together. That way, these groups can learn in a supportive and collaborative workshop setting.

About Chris Cavanaugh
Prior to founding Magellan Strategy Group, Chris spent ten years as vice president of marketing for The Biltmore Company in Asheville, NC, the owner of Biltmore Estate. While there, Chris also directed marketing for the Inn on Biltmore Estate, a four-star hotel on the property, and the Biltmore Estate Winery, the most visited winery in the nation. Chris has served as chairman of the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority (overseeing the work of the Asheville CVB) and Blue Ridge Mountain Host, a regional marketing association. He was the 2014 recipient of the Southeast Tourism Society Shining Example Award and in 2015 received the Travel Industry Association of North Carolina’s Tourism Excellence Award for an Individual for outstanding contributions to the development of the travel industry in the state.
